Caesar's metals I have but a few,
All because I am a Jew.
I wish to adorn you with bracelets,
Yet my metals are for anklets.
Cleopatra has promised me a mine,
If only I share with her my wine.
When farmers shall have their fill,
I shall plough with joy the field.
All I want is your patience,
And I will be guided by my conscience.
